An Amazing Beach Vacation Destination! N. Topsail Beach, NC
As you reach the peak of the north bridge, the view is amazing! Topsail Island is a 26 mile stretch encompassing three towns in two different counties.. Topsail Beach, Surf City and my personal favorite beach vacation destination, N. Topsail Beach.
It sold me, it might sell you as well!! I couldn’t believe how reasonable the pricing is for beachfront property there. There are many vacation rental condos available on the island that won’t break the bank. Beachfront Bargains actually came down to film there!!
The mainland town, Snead’s Ferry, is a fishing village. Although the town has grown tremendously in the last several years, it’s maintained it’s small town vibe. In the ‘old’ town, several restaurants are located at the fishing docks on New River. These are primarily ‘locals’ restaurants. Try the Riverview Café. They charge extra to get food broiled instead of fried and the vegetables listed on the menu are; french fries, baked potato, onion rings, fried squash and fried okra! This is down home cooking y’all.
For a little preppier dinner choices you can head down to Surf City, a twenty minute drive south on the island. Daddy Mac’s, on the ocean, has good food, a nice atmosphere and some rocking chairs on the deck to enjoy while you wait for your table as does Sears Landing on the bay side. One of the better dinner choices is Beauchaines 211, great food and a nice view of the bay/sunset if you can get the right seats in the dining room. A personal favorite is the Thai Grill, Surf City mainland.
Perk: You’ll find a great place to relax and get away from it all. Look for dolphins, hunt for shark teeth and watch the shrimp boats. You’ll find many easy day trips. To the south, there’s Wrightsville Beach, Southport, Myrtle Beach, etc.. To the north, Swansboro, Emerald Island, and Beaufort to name a few.
Quirk: There’s not a lot of nightlife in North Topsail. Wilmington is about a 50 minute ride and worth the trip. Catch a show at Thalian Hall, check out a Comedy Club, join a Haunted Ghost Tours, see a concert or walk the riverfront. For a list of events, check out www.whatsonwilmington.com.
Also close by is Jacksonville, NC, a 20 minute drive to the north. Camp LeJeune is a huge presence in the area, so Jacksonville is primarily a Marine town. You’ll find alot of shopping, chain restaurant and movie theatres.
Great beaches, friendly people and the weather is awesome!
