Have You Considered An Aruba Vacation?
Having heard so many people talk about their Aruba vacation over the years, I finally made it there recently and it was well worth the trip! Aruba is a small island with a lot of character…
Our hotel was the Costa Linda Beach Resort. The beach area was great. Loaded with palapas and lounge chairs, it’s relatively easy for you to get a set-up on the beach without camping out at 5 a.m. Always a perk!
The beaches are public and you can stroll along, passing the many hotels and restaurants along the way. If you’re looking for a lot of nightlife, The Costa Linda Resort may not be the right choice. This location is away from the majority of the nightlife, but there are many other hotels along the beach and a small casino within walking distance.
It’s worth the trip to see the ‘new’ Ritz Carlton Casino. Nicely done and the service was fantastic. They served a decent complimentary wine in really nice goblets, even to big time gamblers like me, woohooing it up at the penny machine!
If you like outdoor dining and live music, Madame Janette’s is a terrific choice for dinner. Great service, great food! The food at Passions on the Beach did not impress, but the atmosphere was great with tables right in the sand. I might prefer to just go for appetizers or dessert in the future.
There’s a lot of perks to the island, as far as quirks go.. you should know in advance that it’s really, really, really hot there. You’ll be thankful for the perpetual breeze. The lizards are tremendous! Having heard so much about the casinos in Aruba, I was surprised that they were not as abundant or as big as I had imagined. It didn’t matter much to me as I’m not a gambler, but I had a mental picture of a Vegas in the sand. It wasn’t. That being said, I’ll be back!
